John E. Kobara, M.A., MBA

John Kobara has been leading and managing innovative nonprofit organizations, companies, and technology startups for almost 40 years. Prior to his retirement in 2019, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer of the California Community Foundation, the 39th largest grant making foundation in the nation with more than $1.7 billion in assets. Previously, he served as head of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles. John is actively involved in advancing social justice by increasing access to educational opportunities in Los Angeles.
