Kate Van Dis

Kate Van Dis is a health writer for HelpGuide Handbook, a RYT 200 yoga teacher, and an enthusiastic advocate of therapy, meditation, and a good night’s sleep. She brings her unique perspective on mental health—shaped by a regular yoga practice, parenting, and caregiving for aging parents—to each topic she covers. Kate’s current research and writing focus is on online therapy, sleep, and products to improve the well-being of older adults.

Kate received a Bachelor of Arts in English & Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of North Carolina. After practicing yoga for nearly two decades, Kate completed her RYT 200 yoga teacher training in June 2022 and has been teaching weekly yoga classes ever since. Kate also completed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course through Duke University's Health & Well-Being Programs in September 2024. When she’s not writing or teaching, you might find Kate strolling down the nature trails near her house with her husband and two sons.
